About the event

A two-day course to provide a comprehensive introduction to caring for a healthy, abundant orchard without the use of chemicals. Suitable for anyone who cares for fruit trees in their garden, smallholding or enterprise as well as for anyone that is thinking of planting their own fruit trees.

The course will cover a very wide range of topics and includes hands-on activities as well as theory, including

• The fundamentals of fruit trees

• Orchard layout design

• Choosing your fruit

• Tree forms and sizes

• Wind, Water, Soil, Elevation

• Principles and core techniques for pruning standard trees and trained fruit

• Tree care

• Tree propagation

• Working with nature to manage the orchard

The course is held at two locations in North Pembrokeshire.

- Day one is at Scolton Manor near Spittal, which hosts a wide varierty of fruit trees, mature orchards and trained fruit.

- Day two is held at Patch of the Planet near Maenclochog, which is a young permaculture project which uses a range of nature-based techniques to build orchard resilience.

Course tutors are,

- Simon Richards, experienced professional horticulturalist and Head Gardener at Scolton Manor

- Neil Kingsnorth, experienced nature-based orchard trainer and permaculture designer

Cwrs deuddydd i roi cyflwyniad cynhwysfawr i ofalu am berllan iach, toreithiog heb ddefnyddio cemegau. Addas ar gyfer unrhyw un sy'n gofalu am goed ffrwythau yn eu gardd, tyddyn neu fenter yn ogystal ag i unrhyw un sy'n ystyried plannu coed ffrwythau eu hunain. Bydd y cwrs yn cwmpasu nifer eang iawn o bynciau ac yn cynnwys gweithgareddau ymarferol yn ogystal â theori, gan gynnwys,

• Dyluniad cynllun perllan

• Dewis eich ffrwythau

• Ffurfiau a meintiau coed

• Gwynt, Dŵr, Pridd, Drychiad

• Egwyddorion a thechnegau craidd ar gyfer tocio coed safonol a ffrwythau hyfforddedig

• Gofalu am goed

• Lluosogi coed

• Gweithio gyda byd natur i reoli'r berllan

Cynhelir y cwrs mewn dau leoliad yng Ngogledd Sir Benfro.

- Mae'r diwrnod cyntaf ym Maenordy Scolton ger Spittal, sy'n gartref i amrywiaeth eang o goed ffrwythau, perllannau aeddfed a ffrwythau hyfforddedig.

- Cynhelir yr ail ddiwrnod yn Llecyn o'r Blaned ger Maenclochog, sy’n brosiect permaddiwylliant ifanc sy’n defnyddio amrywiaeth o dechnegau sy’n seiliedig ar natur i adeiladu gwytnwch perllannau.
